FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Real questions, honest answers, mild bear humour. Anything missing? It’s just me here — ask and you’ll get a real reply.
Why “RETRIEBEAR”?
Look at the logo: half golden retriever, half bear. The retriever half starts projects with boundless enthusiasm; the bear half refuses to let them die. Solo development needs both — usually before lunch.
Is it really just you?
Yes. The daily standup is me explaining yesterday’s bugs to the coffee machine. Music and sound come partly from an licensed artists @mamazway though — even a bear knows its limits.
What do you build with?
Godot for the engine, Blender for 3D, Photoshop and Affinity for art, Ableton for audio, DaVinci Resolve for trailers. The full stack is on the homepage. Yes, even Jira. I contain multitudes.
When does the next game come out?
When it’s fun. I don’t announce dates I’d have to apologise for later. Wishlist STACKROW on Steam and you’ll know the exact moment it happens.
Can I playtest?
Please do. Early feedback is the closest thing solo dev has to a cheat code. Send me your platform and favourite genres via the contact page and you’re on the list.
Do you send review keys?
Yes, to channels of any size. Write from your channel’s email so I know it’s really you — bears are trusting, not naive.
I found a bug. What now?
Platform, game version, what happened — clips or screenshots are gold. Anything that eats save files skips the whole queue.
Do you take contract or freelance work?
Rarely, and only when it fits between my own productions. Tell me timeline and budget and you’ll get a straight yes or no — never a “maybe” that wastes your week.
Is there a bear in the unannounced game?
I can neither confirm nor deny 🙂
